                                     Seminar on “Understanding Poetry”

On Saturday, 24 August, 2019 a seminar for B. A. Part III students on the topic “Understanding Poetry” was organised by the Dept. of English in Radhanagari Mahavidyalaya, Radhanagari. Dr. Vinod Pradhan, Asst. Professor in English, Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, Murgud was invited as a resource person for the seminar. Dr Pradhan dealt with the themes and techniques of the poetry form. He illustrated the poems with the help of Power Point presentation. The seminar was chaired by Dr Chintamani Y. Jadhav (Head, Dept. of English, Doodh-Sakhar College, Bidri). The seminar took place in two consecutive sessions.

The seminar was an inaugural activity of the BDMR group. The BDMR is a group formed by the heads of English departments from the neighbouring colleges namely, 1) Bhogawati College, Kurukali 2) Doodh-Sakhar college, Bidri, 3) Mandlik college, Murgud, 4) Devchand College, Nipani and 5) Radhanagari college. The main objective of the group is to give exposure to students to exclusively English activities. The group works for the faculty exchange and students’ exchange.

For the seminar 41 students from the neighbouring colleges participated (Radhanagari: 06, Bidri: 03, Bhogawati: 10, Murgud: 07 and Devchand: 15). Similarly, Dr Shobha Patil (Bhogawati college), Dr Anandi Kamble (Devchand college), Dr Chintamani Y. Jadhav (Bidri college) and Dr N. A. Jarandikar (Radhanagari college) were present for the seminar.
